1. Today is Pentecost Sunday. It marks the birthday of the Christian Church whereby the power of the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and began the movement of Christianity. 2. Ottawa Joint Cantonese Devotional meeting is scheduled for 2009-06-12to13(Friday, Saturday),evenings 7:30pm at the Emmanuel Alliance Church of Ottawa. Speaker: Dr. David Pao. Theme: Living for Christ. Mandarin translation provided except for the Saturday morning workshop (9:30am-12:30pm)Topic: How to Study the Gospels. Call 613-232-2226 GLCC for details. 3. Global Day of Prayer 2009 summon all Christians to pray and worship with millions worldwide, on Pentecost Sunday (today) 31 May 2009, Ottawa venue will be held in City Church at 155 Carillon St. 7-9 pm We will pray globally and gather locally. 4. A Sunday school teacher training entitled “Teach to Change Lives” in Mandarin led by Rev. Hongji Leu will take place in the Emmanuel Alliance Church of Ottawa 4 Thorncliff Place, Nepean. on Jun 12-14, 2009 (Friday night to Sunday noon) Cost: $25 per person which includes Saturday lunch and lecture notes. Contact Rev. Chan for registration and details. 5. This is the last day of Asian Heritage Month. May was first declared Asian Heritage Month in Canada in 2001 and since then, has been celebrated in the United Church of Canada. The month provides an opportunity to prayerfully reflect on the contributions of Asian Canadian society, and to honour and celebrate this important aspect of Canadian history. 6. This Saturday June 6, 2009 evening 6:00 pm Chinese Scholars’ Evangelist Testimony on DVD will be held in the dinning hall featuring the 1st lesson on “The Light of Revelation” by Rev. Feng Bing Cheng. All are welcome. 7. Brother Miguel Stack is calling a meeting with the mothers of young children to discuss junior church ministries today in one of the basement rooms from 12:30pm to 1:15pm.
